Noreña smashed after 20kg after closing the last cider mill in the council.
THE CIDER- The I Fiesta de la Mayada, or I Apple Smashing Party organized by infoNoreña, was a true success despite the weather given the variety of the schedule and the popular participation, which exceeded the climate inclements proper of the smashing season.
Children and old alike had the chance to smash apple with mayu and smashing machines and make cider with a small cider mill that was prepared in the tent. Almost 1000Kg of the best Asturian apple were enough to make an apple juice that the attendees enjoyed.
Guided tasting, cider pouring masterclass by Jeison Franco, apple juice contest, tonada and performances of bagpipe bands were other acitivities inside the program.
It was also impressive the work of the Noreña Bagpipe Band, the participation of the City Hall with the Mayor present in many activies, the Associations of Merchants with the market, the cider bars and their especial menu for the apple smashing season and especially the organization, who with few means knew how to carry out this project, to be growin in following years.
