Asturian cider makers judge the XXX Hall of Gourmets

Regarding the contests of the fair, El Rei Silu Cheeses won for the second time the Championship of Best Cheese of Spain, in this 2016 edition in the category of soft with the creation “El Besu del Rei Silu”.

THE CIDER.- On the last day of the Hall of Gourmets visitors took the best of the day to know about the stands and activities. After four days the Asturian cider makers told LA SIDRA their opinions about this edition.

 

Julián Castañón from Castañón Cider stated that the aim they had coming to this fair was to give to know their Roxmut cider vermouth. “Some people came to the stand specifically asking for it” and it was one of the most surprising products of the Asturian stand. He also stated that soon he will distribute Roxmut in Madrid.

 

Tino Cortina from Cortina cider felt satisfied with the Hall of Gourmets. After 18 editions coming, Cortina Cider knows that one of the best advertisements is to pour natural cider as “maximum expression” as it is. So the people could taste a cider glass of their natural cider and Villacubera DOP, glass and natural one.

Trabanco’s people felt happy as well. Isabel Trabanco, manager, said that this fair allow them to meet many of their customers and many potential  others. Avalon, their latest product, was well accepted. “It’s surprising that a semi-sweet sparkling cider has this Asturian feature” stated she. The attendees also tasted their natural cider and their “own harvest” natural cider that in Isabel’s opinion,  is each time more appreciated in Madrid’s market.

On the other hand Francisco Ordóñez from Viuda de Angelón Cider assessed also positively their presence in the Hall. However he had to express his discontent regarding the location of the stand by the “Principality”. “It’s one of the worst places, it was in the 6th pavilion, at the end and almost at the cornir. This is a place with very few people transit since the connection to other stands was at the beginning of the areas.  Besides the difference between the “Principality” and other communities’ stands was that there was no lights marking the location of Asturies.

Regarding the contests Quesos El Rei Silu won for the second time the Best Cheese of Spain Championship in the category of soft cream with their creation El Besu del Rei Silu. “Hall of Gourmets is the best fair that we the cheesemakers have and is a honor for us to have this gold medal especially competing with such good cheeses” stated for LA SIDRA magazine Pascual Cabaño.
