Open Tasting of SISGA’18

The open tasting is one of the key days in this International Hall of Gala Ciders, since it is the day in which the participating cidermakers show their products to the general public.

The Asturies XXI Foundation has had since its inception as one of its primary objectives, to publicize the innovations that are taking place within the world cider industry. Every year, the cidermakers bring different proposals to the market with extraordinary quality. Proposals that, if it were not for this congress, would be impossible to know in Spanish territory. Hence the importance of this event. During a whole day the public will be able to taste different types of cider from different countries in a single space, or rather, in a ‘unique space’.

The Palacio de Revillagigedo is one of the most important symbols of Xixón. This year, and given the great success of the previous editions, in addition to using the Collegiate Church of San Juan Bautista located next to the building, the open tasting of the SISGA’18 will be extended to the courtyard of the Palace as the event has this year with more international exhibitors. It should be noted that this building, Baroque style, is composed of two crenellated towers of four heights and a central body of three. In the latter you can see different elements of ornamentation highlighting the heraldic shield of the facade and its Ionic, Tuscan and composite columns. An exceptional setting in the old town of Xixon.

Attendees can not only taste the products presented, but also have the opportunity to establish a relationship with the cidermakers themselves, who will explain the elaboration process, the organoleptic qualities of each of the ciders and their possible pairing.

In addition, in this SIGA’18 a special tasting area has been set up where samples will be continually made by the speakers and specialists in this beverage. On the other hand, there will also be exhibited different products related to cider for both consumption and service.
