VI Homemade Cider Made in Wood Contest

For sixth consecutive year on this VIII First Cider of the Year, LA SIDRA organizes this contest, the only one of its kind.

LA SIDRA.-  The contest is aimed for non professional cider makers that use the traditional method with wooden cask, so as to encourage the use of this material for cider making, little by little with less use due to the substitution for the stainless steel and fiber tanks. This event will be held on Sunday 16th of April and a great participation is expected.

This homemade cider contest is the only one of its kind in Asturies since the rest of them use to be just from a certain council, with the exception of the event by the Association for the Support of Traditional Cider. However this also is limited to the former province of Uviéu created in Madrid in 1835 and predecessor of the “Principality autonomous community”, leaving the rest of the country behind.

In this case -likewise with the Asturian tonada contest, with usual participation of singers from Asturies of Santillana, Tresmiera, Laredo, La Llébana and north of León- people from all the Asturian historical territory will have the chance to participate together.
