Cider at the Museum of the Asturian Village

In the museum center we find a large number of elements that show the traditional production process of the most emblematic drink of Asturies; from imposing presses and weights, wooden apple smashers, barrels, fillers and corkers; even zapicas, glasses and bottles, an interesting collection that shows how consumption evolved; a visit that, if we are in Xixón, is mandatory

LA SIDRA.- It should be noted that the museum occupies a wooded area of ​​35,000 m2 and has a brackish water pond, “reminiscent of the marsh that once dominated the mouth of the Piles River. This enclosure constitutes a pleasant leisure space in which both the museum and the citizens organize different celebrations” they explain on their online site.

In fact, it is in this place that one of the most important cider cultural events in the country is held, such as the Primer Sidre l’Añu or First Cider of the Year, which takes place during Easter. Well, going back to the museum, it has different collections that are shown to the public in different buildings, some of which, such as traditional houses, hórreos and paneras, constitute in themselves a part of the exhibition.
