Siero “hits the glass”

The council will hold the festival “Espalma la Sidra” at the end of April.

LA SIDRA.- Siero began to signal its cidermills yesterday, starting with Viuda de Palacio in Tiñana, the first out of twelve cideries in the council.

“Llagares de Siero” was born with the aim of fostering the cider culture in the area by registering a brand which hosts history, pictures and information of every cidermill.
Now they want to create a new cider concept by holding a festival which will take place on the last weekend of April.

Cidermakers will gather on 5th March to outline “Espalma la Sidra” (cider “espalma”, forms bubbles when hitting the glass), a pioneering initiative to boost cider culture which includes traditional cuisine, evening performances and workshops.

A new idea born in Siero which may spread to the rest of Asturian councils.
