The increasing by a 20% in the DOP promotional budget will mean a tax cut down for makers and producers.
LA SIDRA.- Yesterday a new comission of the Regulatory Council DOP Cider of Asturias was held in Villaviciosa.
In the meeting, a budget of over 500,000 euros, 300,000 more than last year was approved, in order to promote the DOP brand, as well as a tax reduction, by around 37%, which cidermakers pay.
This is due to the increasing number of producers, as they have moved from 21 to 31 cidermills, which means a lower contribution by each one.
A Strategy Plan was also established for the next months, based on the empowerment of the catering and food industry in department stores, as well as a major presence in fairs like Madrid Gourmet and Alimentaria.
In 2017, DOP Cider of Asturias processed nearly seven million kilos of apples, and this year’s production is expected to continue growing.
