Great success of the Asturian tent in the Interceltic Festival of An Oriant

The Asturian pavilion breaks records of visits and sales in its year of return under new management, with varied cultural programming and products of high quality and gastronomic innovation.

Asturias has a special place in the hearts of the Bretons and Celtic people who go through the Interceltic Festival of An Oriant every year. Therefore, last year left a huge hole that could not be filled, given that there was no Asturian representation among the festival’s pavilions.

However, this year the presence was renewed with more energy and will than ever. The person in charge of taking the reins was Jesús Adrián Rodríguez Álvarez, who had previously been in charge of this piece of Asturias in Breizh, and who has now decided to bet everything to recover the illusion of the thousands of visitors who wanted to have Asturias within the festival.

To get the success, he used the most representative products of our culture; among the numerous samples of Asturian gastronomy were the natural cider of Llagar Contrueces, as well as beer novelties from SCONE, distancing themselves from the rest of the pavilions with a beer of quality and character. The digestives were by Orujo Monasterio de Corias, which provided a rich variety that covered all possible tastes. The public was especially impressed by the typical Asturian dishes, which this year showed a renewed and traditional version.

However, there were also several incidents, otherwise normal in this type of events, which could be solved quickly with the support of Nicolas Radin. The audience was able to enjoy numerous musical performances, from the young group Melandru, to the Acadian rockabilly sound, through open mics and performances by the groups that represented Asturias in the festival: Banda Gaites Villaviciosa, Banda Gaites El Gumial and Grupu Baille San Felix, which delighted all the visitors of the pavilion.

The two presentations of the VIII SISGA offered by the delegation of LA SIDRA and the ASTURIES XXI FOUNDATION occupied a prominent place among the faithful public of the pavilion, who could learn more about the different varieties of cider beyond the natural one, from more than eight different countries, and that were a total success.

From here and the Asturian Pavilion we want to thank also the Asturian Delegation of the festival and its director, Iñaki Sánchez Santianes, for all the support and good organization in these dates marked by fire in the calendar of all fans of folk and Celtic culture. We also thank the Asturias Tourism Board, which provided with a tourist information point that was very useful for all potential visitors of our country.

Next year is promising, but the return of Asturias this year has been a huge success.
