Castañon Cidermill considers the presentation of a brut cider

After the launching of their “frizzante” cider, inspired in the Italian moscato, the cidermill intends to open a new market.

LA SIDRA.- Alfredo Garcia Menendez, a bus driver between Quintes and Xixon, loses his job after having his coach confiscated during the Spanish Civil War. Two years later the bus appears inoperable in Valladolid and, with the 12,000 pesetas he gets for it, decides to build a cidermill.

That is the beginning of Castañon Cidermill in 1938. Nowadays, three generations later and after changing its location from Quintes to Quintueles for a reason of facilities expansion, Castañon cider is a reference in the Asturian cider world.

Julian Castañon defines himself as a passionate of the processes hidden under the cidermaking, and, this way, tries to innovate presenting products different from the traditional still cider.

After the success achieved with their vermouth cider Roxmut, which has already conquered the palate of consumers in less than two years, and their sparkling cider Xiz, ideal to pair with light meals, they are studying the presentation of a brut cider that fulfills the market expectations at the beginning of 2018.

One of the keys for this cidermill success is counting on specialized staff, such as enologist Pedro Ramas or the guide tour manager, Marta Garcia Miranda.
