Cider at the Botanical Gardens

British tourers reach Xixon to pour Asturian cider.

LA SIDRA.- “Coach Trip” is a light-hearted British reality game show which has been broadcast on Channel 4 since 2005. It consists of a series of episodes in which several teams travel around the world accompanied by a unique tour guide, Brendan Sheerin.

The last series, titled “Coach Trip: Road to Tenerife”, was filmed in July 2017 and it is being aired from 8th January to 2nd March. And this season one of the episodes took place in Xixon, where the contestants learnt how to pour cider in the Asturian traditional way.

This fifth episode was dedicated to our cider and folk dancing. After paying attention to the Asturian cider rite performed by a professional pourer and the intructions translated by Sheerin, it was their turn to try.

They did it in a different way, pouring cider in the glass held by their partner, so most of them ended up soaking wet. Although they found it strange, specially the act of placing the little finger at the bottom of the glass, everyone had a good time.

A experience to remember and tell others when back in Britain.
