A study of the consulting agency Euromonitor stresses the fact that from now to 2020 the worldwide cider production will grow a 5% annually.
THE CIDER.- Everything seems to indicate that cider is the alcoholic beverage that undergoes the faster growth, over wine, cava or beer, being expected for 2020 to be produced more than 3.000 liters, which is 640 million liters more than nowadays.
The causes? The each time bigger demand of gluten-free beverages, the recovering of the home made cider and the increased demand among young people. In the USA the sales tripled between 2012 and 2014 and it is expected this North American growth to be 12% annually between 2015 and 2020. The same can be said about markets like Australia or South Africa, where cider has each time more presence in the market.
In Central and South America, where Asturian emigrants took champagne cider, its presence is very important and in countries like Argentina, the growth is estimated in 20 %, however the seasonality of the consumption is the current biggest ballast against bigger growth.
